Average Mom Review: Madison Reed Hair Color

9/21/2020

Friends, I did it.  After not coloring my hair since August in 2019, I decided to color my hair again.  It was growing out and much healthier than it was before, but I didn't like the uneven color.  Now my new goal is to take better care of my hair and I have pledged to invest in better color and stick to one color so I can just updated my roots as it grows out.

However, I'm going to confess something that has made many stylists in my life post rants upon rants on Facebook: I color my hair at home.  I don't have the time or money to see a stylist.  I respect stylists---they're professionals and do great at their job.  They also have better hair than me and higher hair expectations than I do.  Shrugs.  I know I get out what I put in.  If this is the reason I'm not a model so be it.

So given that disclaimer...below are real, everyday results from my average self.

Perks:
  • I loved the packaging. It came with everything down to gloves, a cap, and clear instructions.
  • Using their color suggester and trying on the color before purchasing was so helpful.
  • I added on a shine booster.  I love how shiny my hair was, but I have no way to gauge how much it did or did not help. Next time I'll wait a day.
  • My hair feels so healthy still. It doesn't have that thick, goopy feeling I usually try to condition away after coloring at home.
Cons:
  • I did have to order it online and it took about a week to arrive at my door--normal shipping times, but usually when I decide to color my hair I get antsy.
  • It is a subscription, so you'll have to remember to cancel or set your shipments to your needs.
So here you go, I'll pretend to be a model in my backyard for your benefit.

So if you're inclined to give it a try and get $15 off your first purchase with my referral link. Try it. Love it.

I tried Light Smoky Brown.
